When folksy singer/songwriter Rob Mitchelson was asked to compose the synthwave soundtrack to an 80’s style Sci-Fi action movie, he jumped at the chance. Little did he know, the script was only unintentionally hilarious, and the film would never be made. What remains is a high energy, nostalgic, and sometimes funny visit to the raddest parts of the 80’s- Big synths, video games vibes, people intensely taking themselves way too seriously. From the sizzling “Asteroid Ice Cave” to the over-the top goofy “Knightlaser Theme”, the soundtrack to Knightlaser: 2042 almost makes you wish they’d made the movie. Enjoy it ironically, enjoy it sincerely, whatever you like.
